Today was the Best Mother's Day..... EVER!
 
Camden arrived at my door, fresh off a graveyard shift, still in uniform, with a dozen red roses...FOR ME! I was floored. My son has never given me flowers. When did my 24 year old boy become a gentleman?
 
The Cap Sleeve Column Dress arrived Friday. I tried it on immediately. I was not very impressed. The neckline is much higher than the tank style neckline of the Maia. The shape is more boat neck than scoop.The fact that it sagged like a cowl, while my bra straps were in full view, made the entire dress appear unflattering. The color and even striping were not nearly as flattering as the Maia. From now forward all Column dresses get the run down in comparison with the Maia Column. As for the shorter length, this dress appears to hit me at the knees just like the Maia. I tried it on several more times over the weekend., but my opinion didn't change. I'm not too disappointed. I'm betting another Bailey 44 column dress is just around the corner.
 
I'm looking for the Amrita Cardi in any of the other colors I can find. I called leads CS gave me Friday, and none of them panned out. I'm hoping tomorrow will be a better day to call since inventory was updated over the weekend. If you see the orange or brown in a store please PV message me. I will get the message even faster if you email me at lauramartinsemail@yahoo.com. I love this Cardigan. Hope I can find a few more before the Red Tag starts this week.

I couldn't think of a better backdrop than the Maia Column Dress to debut my Madagascar Ammonite Pendant. My friend Heidi picked this fossil out for me while in Long Beach at the American Association of Petroluem Geologists (AAPG) Convention.

normally, I make my weekly grocery trip after work. Most of the time I'm in a skirt, dress and/or heels. It was nice to go a little more laid back today. My outfit was...
 
Leifsdottir's Tossed Gardenia Blouse (I really like this top even though the unfitted bodice isn't the most flattering cut on me, and the fabric is well...synthetic.
Cartonnier's Wide-Leg Culottes in White (I love the above ankle length that shows off footwear, and in spite of the wrinkles, I ordered another pair in pink)
Aolani Hoops in Green. (wish I had made the effort to find a pair in blue. Anthro's product shot does not do justice to the sparkling precious gems.
KM Gladiators in Green Patent by Matt Bernson (I had a reader contact me about purchasing these sandals when they weren't even up for sale. She wanted them that bad)
 
Grocery shopping for Nefi can be a challenge. The store doesn't always have all the herbs in stock. So I often have to make a repeat trip a day or two later. But the real work begins when I return home. Everything needs to be carefully washed, trimmed, and bad stuff removed. I then fill the previous weeks recycled zip lock bags with as much produce as possible and stuff each with a dry paper towel to keep the produce dry and prevent mold. A weeks worth of food will fill an entire refrigerator shelf.
 
Appox 1.5 hours for her food.
 
So you can imagine the amount of time just one of my three animals takes when you add up...
-picking up, changing the towels, and vacuuming Nefiville twice a week or more.
-changing two litter boxes every other day. Plus two for my cats.
-preparing two meals per day, 15 minutes each meal, to slice, dice, tear, peel, and open/close 15 zip lock bags.
-One hour or more in the backyard everyday with constant supervision. Not today though. I had to lace the yard with snail killer. Uggg! She was pulling up carpet with her teeth this morning.
-time spent crawling around on the floor with her. She likes to play horsey. Guess who is the horse. LOL! I taught her to roll a ball, play tug-o-war, and demonstrated how to chew on toys. She gets brushed, scratched, chased, and praised. When I hear her digging or pulling up carpet fibers with her teeth, I know it's time to exit the house. If that's not possible, I distract her with a phone book, she's an awesome shredder. cardboard toilet paper rolls for chewing, old towels for digging, and treats placed around her two story cardboard palace. She loves racing and climbing through the many entrances and exits, and one tunnel, made from several cardboard boxes. She also has a clear path around the perimeter of...yes...my bedroom, so she can run fast at a moments notice.
 
She and her four legged cat friend, Heishe, often take turns chasing each other down the long hallway. Heishe tolerates her rude nosings and pokes. He has never once raised a paw to take a swipe. They even share the same water dish. but she refuses to share food. She runs him right out of her queendom if he so much as sniffs her mint.

It was the eve of the end of Free Shipping. What else could I do?
